Work Languages

The ultimate purpose of translating lies not in merely replacing words of one language by words of another language but rather in transferring the original into a foreign language in such a way as to make it sound to the reader as if the text had been written in this foreign language in the first place.

For this reason, I usually stick to the so-called mother-tongue principle, i.e., texts will only be translated into a translator’s native language. This is generally considered to be the best method for ensuring that the context, language and style of a text will be transferred correctly into its target language.

Accordingly, I mainly offer translations for the following language combinations (if requested, I can also certify these):

• English to German
• Spanish to German

Should you require translations into any other languages, I shall be glad to help you in finding a qualified colleague.
